MY REVIEW:
I really liked Jessica Lemmon’s Can’t Let Go (novella) and Hard to Handle (#2), but I really LOVED this third book in her Love in the Balance series. THE MILLIONAIRE AFFAIR was delightful to read from start to finish. I was silly enough to start it at bedtime and ended up missing nearly a whole night’s sleep because I could. not. stop. reading. But I do not regret it for one second! This book is awesome!

The highly successful, sexy and gorgeous, but emotionally unavailable Landon Downey captured my heart when his college girlfriend, Rachel, shattered his. He shut down and refused to be that vulnerable or get attached to anyone other than his family again. He chose women to date who were willing to settle for an exclusive relationship where they met each other’s social and sexual needs, but did not expect an emotional bond. He was convinced he was no longer capable of loving someone and even called himself “The Tin Man”. Yet it was easy to see how much love he was capable of in how patient, caring and selfless he was with his six year old nephew, his sister, and his brothers. And Kimber with her kind, honest, unselfish, and naturally exuberant ways just enchanted him. He had never met a woman like her and she brought out so many emotions he had been so sure he’d never feel again.

Kimber Reynolds, his sister Angel’s friend, has had a crush on Landon since she was sixteen. Ten years hasn’t done much to lesson the flush her body feels just being near him and that still makes her nervous to be around Landon. But he needs a Nanny for his nephew Lyon, and she needs the cash to buy out her ex-boyfriend and business partner, Mick. Once she meets his brother Evan’s adorable son, Lyon, she is lost to his sweet little-boy charm. Besides, she’s was only fooling herself when she tried to resist the opportunity of spending a week practically alone with Landon in his posh penthouse apartment and getting to know the man she has compared all other men to better. She just needs to keep her feelings for him under wraps. She needs to keep it casual and not fall into her usual habit of falling hard and fast with every man she spends time with only to have her heart broken when they walk away from her.

Landon and Kimber are a serious case of opposites attracting. He is a buttoned-up planner who thinks everything out before making the logical decision and she is a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants woman who makes decision based on her emotions. One thing they have in common is a wicked, no denying it, can’t keep my eyes off and please let me touch attraction to each other. The other is they don’t trust their selves to find the right person to trust with their heart or their future. These two were just so great together. I loved the way they interacted and balanced each other. Ms. Lemmon’s beautiful writing style made it easy to get lost is their story, rooting for their romance to flourish, chuckle at little Lyon, want to smack Mick, and laugh out loud at her friends and his brothers and sister. The dialogue was witty and yet, realistic. The sibling banter was especially spot-on and had me cracking up at the quips and antics. I finished this book with a grin on my face. Loved it!! 5 stars
