The Boys of Summer are back! In Katie Rose’s sweet, sparkling novel, the newest New Jersey Sonic falls for the woman who’s trying desperately to save his career.

Physical therapist Jessica Hart has learned her lesson: Never date professional athletes. She’s been down that road, and barely recovered after the relationship crashed and burned. Then Jessica meets Gavin King. An All-Star slugger with chiseled good looks, Gavin was traded to the Sonics because he hurt his knee sliding into second, and now his future is in her hands. Gavin’s no bad boy—but he’s tempting enough to make Jessica think twice about all her rules.

Gavin is trying to find a comfortable routine. If he wants his old life back, he must take it easy, stay out of the limelight, and keep his distance from gorgeous redheaded physical therapists. The thing is, Gavin isn’t the kind of guy to sit on his ass and let other people pull his weight. And when he sees something he wants, he can’t help but fight for it, even if it means risking everything, even if it only lasts a single moment: like one kiss from Jessica.

My Review:

I really liked this one! This is the second book I’ve read from Katie Rose’s Boys of Summer series and I have to say I’m loving this whole series so far! THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT features Gavin King, who I just have to say stole my heart. He is injured while playing for a major team (Go Dodgers! My favorite team!) and no one is sure if he’ll play again, which would be hard enough to face for any player, but then he’s traded down to an East Coast team. Gavin has his moments, but all-in-all he’s a great sport and prepared to do whatever needs to be done to keep playing the game he loves.

Jessica Hart is the trainer/physical therapist for his new team and this spunky redhead knows her stuff. She also knows players, on and off the field, having grown up with several brothers who are all professional athletes. She’s also had her heart broken my a ball player and isn’t interested in going down that road again. She’s good with that policy until she starts working with the sexy Gavin.

The chemistry between these two was palatable and easy to see why they couldn’t resist each other even though it was not a good time for either of them. One of the things I liked the most about Gavin was he was always a gentleman. He respected Jessica and he showed it. He also made sure others treated her with respect. The Heat of the Moment had a story line that kept me interested, likable and well-developed characters, some steamy scenes, and professional athletes… what’s not to love about that!! 4 stars.
