Travis Bennett is exactly the kind of guy Lauren Davis has been avoiding for the past nine years. Religiously. Stubbornly. Successfully. She knows too well how easy it is to let lust ruin perfectly laid plans. And a small town farmer with no ambitions beyond the borders of his own cornfield is not going to change her mind. She’s got important stuff to do. Her company is literally working to stop world hunger. Her plans are much bigger than Sapphire Falls. No matter how hot those farmers might be.

The problem is—Lauren is falling in love. With Sapphire Falls. To kick her sudden desire to buy a welcome mat and start baking pies, she asks Travis to help her get over her crush. She wants him to show her what life in the small town is really like behind all the sweetness and sunshine and remind her that there’s no place for French manicures and Gucci heels on the farm.

Travis has everything he wants or needs—a quiet, simple life in his hometown, a successful farm and his friends and family all around. A hoity-toity city chick who looks down on everything from the local coffee to his favorite music is the last girl he wants sticking around. So he agrees to her crazy plan. He can definitely show her the less-than-glitzy, rough-around-the-edges side of Sapphire Falls. In fact, things just might get downright dirty.

MY REVIEW:

I absolutely loved reading GETTING DIRTY, the 3rd book in Erin Nicholas’s Sapphire Falls series which features Travis Bennett and Lauren Davis. As with the first two books in this series Erin had me smiling pretty much the entire time I was reading the story. There are so many laugh out loud moments from the witty banter and hilarious situations, and even just the attitude and lies both Travis and Lauren tell themselves as they fight the fact that they are falling head over heels in love with each other. All disguised in a little “frenemies” scenario Lauren cooks up to help her not only resist Travis but the town of Sapphire Falls itself.

I’ve been curious about Miss Aloof Lauren’s story since the beginning of this series. All we basically knew about her is that she is Mason’s best friend, absolutely stunning, an incredibly smart and workaholic scientist, swings both ways sexually, has recently had a breakup because she has no time to give to a relationship, and continually frowns on the lifestyle in Sapphire Falls in comparison to life in a big city. Okay, maybe that is a lot, but we didn’t know what made her tick or anything about her roots, so to speak. I for one have been dying to know who she was before she became Mason’s best pal and partner and what she would be like if she relaxed and cut loose. In Getting Dirty there is a softer, more vulnerable side of Lauren, and she quickly became one of my favorite Sapphire Falls characters.

Travis Bennett, is country boy, man candy personified. He is as happily entrenched in the way of life that is Sapphire Falls as a man can get. He is close to his family, proud of his roots, works hard to improve the town in general, an all-around great guy always willing to help and look out for his friends, with gorgeous looks and a rock hard body built from strenuous work instead of a gym like the men Lauren usually dates. He’s attracted to Lauren, but hates her always turning up her nose at his town. He knows she’s trouble, that she is going to end up causing one of his friends, or worse one of his brothers, to fall in love with her only to leave them behind and break their heart. He thinks Lauren’s scheme to ruin the sweetness of Sapphire Falls that draws her by forcing a hard look at what it would really be like to live there is ridiculous, but if it will get Lauren out of town and keep his bro’s safe, he’s willing to take one for the team. Besides, he’s immune to her charms. He doesn’t even really like her. At least that’s what he keeps telling himself. And her.

I can’t even verbalize how hot these two were together, or how funny it was that they worked so hard at denying they were perfect for each other rather than polar opposites, while not even trying to hide how badly they wanted each other sexually. Their intense attraction and the sexual tension it caused between them was alluded to in Getting Out of Hand and Getting Worked Up, but it explodes in Getting Dirty. And the ending, WOW! Sooooo romantic! Erin really has outdone herself with Travis and Lauren’s love story. It’s a mesmerizing story from start to finish. And of course, the whole gang is here to round out the story, cause a little aggravation for Travis and Lauren, and keep this reader in stitches. Also, we finally get to meet the elusive Ty Bennett. Now HE’s the one I’m most curious about! *crossing my fingers there will be a fourth book* 5 stars
