TO LOVE AND TO CHERISH, the third book in The Wedding Bells series by Lauren Layne finally gives us Alexis and Logan’s story. After reading the first two books in the series I’ve been dying to know what the back story was between these two. I knew since Ms Layne was saving their story for last that it was going to be fabulous and I was not disappointed.

Alexis met Logan in a Harlem bar eight years ago when she had first come to New York with a solid business plan to finally start up the wedding planning business she’s dreamed of owning since she was a young girl. Logan had recently graduated with his Masters degree in business from Columbia University and similarly had plans for beginning his own accounting firm. Alexis felt a strong connection with the sexy Brit, but she had no room in her life for a relationship, that had to wait until after her business was successful. It was pretty much love at first sight for Logan when he met the ambitious and determined Alexis so upon learning she needed an investor he made her an offer hoping she’d eventually notice him as more than her accountant and silent partner. Eight years go by…

Alexis has been happily absorbed in her career with only the occasional pang of envy over the true love and wedded bliss she sees in others every day. Then she receives a phone call that rocks her world and suddenly she must face what she’s avoided all of these years.

Logan also receives a phone call which forces him to make a decision about his own life. He can no longer afford to allow Alexis to look right through him. He needs to know if she is willing to risk love… with him. Or if he’s wasted his time waiting for her all these years.

The smooth, elegant, calm, and always in control, Alexis doesn’t know quite what to do when Logan begins to change the rules of their friendship. And she’s absolutely spinning when he kisses her so seductively that she’s thinking about it for days. Logan is determined to win the woman of his dreams and Alexis is equally determined to maintain the safe, comforting relationship they have always had with one another, because failing at love would mean losing the man who had been her rock all these years.

I loved the chase, and the vulnerability Ms Layne portrays in each of them. The scenes when Logan goes to Josh and Seth for advice were some of my favorites. Brooke, Heather, and Jessie were also willing to do their part for the cause because everyone but Alexis has always known these two belong together. This book had fantastic dialogue, a great storyline, some very seductive scenes, and a happily ever after that’s been well worth waiting for. The greatest fault in To Love and to Cherish is that it brings an end to the Wedding Belles series…. with no HEA for Jessie. 4 stars
